Parent Advisory Board
Our Parent Advisory Board meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month, at 6:15pm.
Purpose of Parent Advisory Board:
To provide parents with a vehicle to air concerns, provide input and suggestions and meet to discuss innovative ideas about the SpringStone Early Learning Center their child attends.
Composition of the Parent Advisory Board:
The board shall consist of volunteer parents whose child/children currently attend the SpringStone Early Learning Center whose board they attend.
Officers and Number of Board Members:
The board shall consist of 3 parents and the Director of the center. However, the Director may not hold office. At the first annual meeting, the board shall elect a President, Vice President and Secretary. The Board and the officers shall hold office for 12 consecutive months.
After 12 consecutive months, a new board will be invited to join on a voluntary basis. Parents may repeat their tenure on the board every other year. Only one person from each family may join the board at any one time. Every other year tenure applies to all members of one family.
Powers Allotted to the Parent Advisory Board:
The Parent Advisory Board is an Advisory Board only. It is not a Policy Making Board and may not make new policy. However, the Parent Advisory Board is assembled to guide the policies of the center and provide management with necessary input to make quality decisions about the overall center.
The Parent Advisory Board does have total dominion over fund raising events and decisions over use of funds raised in all fund raising events.
Other Uses and Powers of the Parent Advisory Board:
The Board shall provide vehicles for use of community helpers, community speakers, community meetings regarding literacy, community partners such as the school district, libraries etc.
The Parent Advisory Board shall provide input into the literacy program used at SpringStone, provide input regarding staffing, classrooms, and learning tools used at SpringStone. This includes the language methods and literary programs implemented.
The Parent Advisory Board shall also provide ways in which all parents in the center may share their talents, and work place with the children in the center. This includes speakers, presentations, and demonstrations.
Frequency of Board Meetings and E Mail Communications:
The Parent Advisory Board shall meet each month to discuss current issues. Minutes shall be kept in an ongoing Parent Advisory Board Manual. All members of the Board shall receive copies of minutes.
During the month, the Parent Advisory Board shall keep in touch via email. Each member of the Parent Advisory Board shall provide his or her email address. Emails shall be sent to all board member including the SpringStone Director. In this way, all members will be able to provide timely input while waiting for the monthly meeting.
